Product Care

Always follow the care instructions listed for your specific product first. The right care depends on the actual fibre, weave, dye and any embellishment, and the product page is where that information lives.

Cotton and Mul Cotton

  • Wash separately in cold water for the first few washes, as some colours may bleed.
  • Use a mild detergent and avoid wringing.
  • Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight.
  • Iron on a medium setting while the cloth is slightly damp.

Silk

  • Dry cleaning is the safest choice for silk sarees.
  • Do not spray perfume directly onto silk or zari.
  • Air the saree after wearing before folding it away.

Zari and woven borders

  • Wrap zari borders in soft cotton or muslin when storing.
  • Avoid pressing a hot iron directly onto zari; iron on the reverse with a cloth between.

Mundu

  • Wash as you would fine cotton: gently, in cold water, dried in the shade.
  • Starching is optional and gives the traditional crisp finish.

Storing your textiles

  • Store folded in a cotton or muslin cloth, not in plastic.
  • Refold along new lines every few months so the creases do not set.
  • Keep away from damp, direct sunlight and insects; a dry, airy cupboard is best.
